Fall School Program Update (SPU) Workshops 2009
The School Program Update workshops are designed for district and county level staff who have to pull the pieces together into one instructional program. The presenter, Peter Birdsall, is known for his ability to discuss funding concerns in the context of educational program issues. The format provides a fast-paced, knowledgeable review of current policy and funding, integrated into one presentation on the “top ten issues in education”. The workshop allows for questions and answers so that participants can dig deeper into the issues of greatest interest. This year’s workshop topics will include:
· The budget and school funding
· Categorical flexibility
· Federal ARRA funding
· Assessment
· Accountability
· Low-performing schools and districts
· Instructional materials
· Charter schools
